Psychological Testing

  • An evaluation is a great way to learn more about yourself, receive specific guidance around mental health treatment planning, and to receive a formal diagnosis (if found) provided by a well-trained licensed provider.

  • My evaluations are person-focused, neurodiversity-affirmative, and collaborative. I intend to work with you to answer your questions - you provide the information about your life and experiences, while I use my extensive knowledge of psychological testing to guide the process. I thoroughly enjoy helping people learn more about themselves and exploring topics that feel difficult to talk about.

  • In most cases, yes! If you are seeking an evaluation to learn about your needs/strengths, are wanting quick and specific strategies for treatment, desire answers to questions about yourself (socially, emotionally, intellectually, personality-wise), then an evaluation is well worth the investment. The value received from my reports has been noted to surpass the temporary financial cost. I am also happy to discuss ways you can find out about out-of-network insurance options and sliding scale fees for those still limited by finances but strongly wanting an evaluation.

 FAQs

  • It can be helpful to think about what symptoms, traits, or experiences you’ve had that made you wonder whether testing would be a good idea. You can either focus on a specific diagnosis (or many) or do a more general comprehensive evaluation. It is always possible to add on additional testing if you have new questions about yourself during the evaluation process.

  • Yes! Our evaluations go beyond just a diagnosis - they seek to explain what makes you who you are and how to live the life you want. Testing can also be very beneficial for requesting workplace or school accommodations. Testing is a big financial, time, and emotional expense so it’s recommended to let your assessor know if any concerns come up.

  • There are three parts to an evaluation with Dr Bridget. Part one is the intake (usually 1.5 hours on Zoom video). This is an interview where we discuss your history and current needs. Part two is testing - this can range from 2 to 10 hours depending on the type of evaluation you’re receiving. Testing can either be in person, virtual, or a hybrid, depending on your preference and appropriateness given age or question being answered. Part three is the report review feedback session where we discuss the findings, recommendations, and resources. One month after the report review, we can do a brief post-evaluation follow-up call to answer any remaining questions about your report.

  • At this time, Dr Bridget is a fully out of network provider. A superbill can be provided at the end of your evaluation; this is a document that includes diagnosis information and fees for billing codes. You may want to contact your insurance company to see what your out of network (OON) benefits are. The CPT codes to ask about are: 90791, 96130, 96131, 96136, and 96137. Insurance reimbursement is not guaranteed even with a superbill, and all services must be paid in full to receive your final report.

  • Whether to meet in person, virtually, or a hybrid is up to personal preference. Many people find the process to be easier if done from the comfort of their own home. Others may find that being at an office helps to focus better. We can discuss what would be the best fit for you during your intake. Virtual testing is not available for children under age 12 or individuals with unreliable WiFi connections.

  • At this time, our services are only being offered for individuals physically located in the state of California.
